Venuerific’s Mid-Year 2025 Event & Venue Booking Trends

The first half of 2025 saw a dramatic surge in venue booking activity on Venuerific, with consistent month-over-month growth. March bookings rose 57% over February, and June climbed another 41% from May. This upward trend aligns with the broader industry sentiment reported in the Amex GBT 2025 Forecast, which highlights a strong return to in-person events amid rising demand for real human connection. Social occasions and corporate events (seminars, business dinners) together account for a large share of bookings.

Small Events Still Dominate Bookings

Many bookings were for intimate gatherings. In fact, nearly 80% of events had under 150 attendees. Weddings and corporate seminars skew larger, but most parties and meetings are mid-sized or smaller. Adult birthday parties had medians around 50 guests, kids’ parties ~60. By contrast, large conferences or expos were rare outliers.

This means venue owners should highlight smaller-capacity options and configurable layouts, while event planners should feel confident that there are many compact spaces available.

Insight: Intimate settings still rule. This trend aligns with broader shifts toward smaller, more personalised events (easier to organise, budget-friendly). Venues that emphasise flexibility in seating and amenities for 20-100 people will capture the bulk of demand.

These Venue Types Got Booked the Most

Virtually every booking involved a general “Event Space” tag. This label appears in most listings, as venues on Venuerific are typically multi-purpose.

To get a clearer picture, we grouped related venue categories. The largest share went to Meeting & Training Rooms (27.5%), followed by Function Halls at 19.7% and Unique Venues at 19.6%. Seminar & Conference Rooms made up 19.5%, while F&B venues (including restaurants, bars, and cafes) accounted for 13.7% of bookings.

  • To better reflect booking behaviour, we separated Meeting & Training Rooms from Seminar & Conference Rooms. The former includes meeting rooms, training spaces, and coworking areas, commonly booked for smaller internal sessions, workshops, or company briefings. The latter covers seminar rooms and conference halls, which are more formal venues suited for large-scale presentations, public-facing talks, and industry events.
  • Function Halls typically refer to traditional banquet or multi-purpose halls. This includes venues like ballrooms, community halls, or formal event spaces often used for weddings, award ceremonies, and large social functions.
  • Unique Venues capture the rising demand for out-of-the-box event locations. This group includes galleries, rooftop venues, industrial-style warehouses, and other non-traditional settings. These are especially popular for weddings, milestone birthdays, launches, and intimate creative events.
  • F&B Venues, which include restaurants, bars, and cafes, are most often booked for celebrations like birthdays, baby showers, dinner parties, and corporate socials.

  • Insight: Corporate events gravitate to formal spaces (meeting rooms, conference halls) with A/V and layout support, while social events pursue novelty. Venue owners should emphasise their specific niche tags: e.g. market creative/co-working lofts to planners of birthday or startup events, and highlight seminar-room features to corporate clients.
  • Tip: For weddings and milestone celebrations, calling out “Unique Venue” or special features (skyline views, heritage charm) can boost booking interest. Nearly half of weddings chose unique venues over standard halls.

Booking Speed: These Venues Went Fast

H1 2025 saw each month’s bookings outpace the previous: e.g. a +57% jump in March and +41% in June, meaning popular venues were snapped up quickly as the year progressed. The surging demand suggests hot months require fast availability. Some of the most in-demand spaces (e.g. meeting rooms and unique venues) likely booked out sooner than others.

  • Actionable Tip: If you offer a high-demand venue, be ready for a quick turnaround. Keep calendars updated and respond quickly. Early promotions (seasonal rates or bonus inclusions) can fill your calendar well ahead of competitors as planners lock in spring/summer dates.
  • Insight: The strong month-on-month growth (Jan→Jun) implies both seasonal factors (Q2 events season) and platform momentum. High-visibility listings were more likely to get booked early in each month, so continual event and venue marketing pays off.

The Sweet Spot for Price: SGD 500-1500 / MYR 1,500-3,000

Budget-wise, most bookings clustered in the low-to-mid range. For Singapore bookings, the median budget was ~SGD 900. Breaking it down, about 50% of Singapore bookings had budgets in the SGD 500-1,500 range.

In Malaysia, with a median spend of ~MYR 2,000, a common range was MYR 1,500-3,000. This suggests a “sweet spot” around these values for each market.

  • Insight: Many planners have modest budgets. Venues in the “mid-market” (neither cheapest nor ultra-luxury) saw the highest demand.
  • Tip: Price your packages competitively in these bands. For venue owners, offering tiered packages around SGD1,000 or MYR2,000 can capture the largest segment of interest. Emphasise value: decent guest capacities and amenities at affordable rates.

What Made Users Click "Book Now"

The types of events booked on Venuerific in the first half of 2025 reflected a healthy mix of business, social, and milestone celebrations. To simplify the dataset, we grouped similar event types. The largest share went to Corporate Meetings & Seminars (22.0%), followed by Corporate Socials (15.8%), Birthdays (13.1%), General Parties (9.6%), and Weddings (12.1%).

  • Corporate Meetings & Seminars include structured, content-driven events like business conferences, internal training sessions, company workshops, and formal seminars. Venues with AV equipment, whiteboards, and flexible layouts are most in demand here.
  • Corporate Socials cover more casual work-related events that focus on employee experience and networking. This includes business dinners, team bonding activities, company luncheons, dinner-and-dance events, and social mixers. These events typically happen after hours or on weekends, often in restaurants, rooftop spaces, or function halls.
  • Birthdays include both adult and kids’ birthday celebrations.  Planners in this category tend to look for venues that allow décor customisation, themed setups, or catering flexibility, especially studios, cafés, and F&B venues with private areas.
  • General Parties cover personal celebrations that aren’t birthdays or weddings. This includes casual get-togethers, office parties, farewell parties, anniversaries, and family gatherings. These events often prioritise ambience and convenience, making multi-purpose halls and restaurants popular choices.
  • Weddings include full ceremonies as well as solemnisation-only bookings. Couples in this category tend to prefer unique venues, rooftops, or romantic function halls, anything that makes the day feel more personal.

top event typesFigure 5: Top event types by share of bookings in H1 2025.

  • Insight: Venue marketing should highlight a fit for the most sought-after events. For example, since 47% of weddings used unique venues, a wedding-specific “look” (romantic decor, bridal imagery, halal/vegetarian menu options) can drive more clicks for such listings. Similarly, showcasing in-house AV and layouts will catch corporate planners’ eyes.
  • Tip: Optimise listing content for each event type keyword (e.g. “birthday party”, “team building”). High-quality photos of past birthday setups or conference layouts increase the likelihood that a search turns into a booking.

When Do People Book? Here's the Real Timing

Booking activity was consistent throughout H1 2025. January contributed roughly 6.6 % of the half-year’s bookings, and by June that share had climbed to 34.9 %. This points to steady growth rather than strong seasonality, though key booking peaks still align with pre-wedding months, corporate timelines, and school holidays.

On a weekly scale, planners most often created bookings mid-week. Wednesday (19.1%) led the week, followed closely by Monday (18.1%), Thursday (17.5%), and Tuesday (17.3%).

bookings created by day of weekFigure 5: Bookings created by day-of-week (H1 2025). Mid-week days see far more bookings than weekends.

  • Insight: Many planners finalise venue decisions mid-week – likely after reviewing weekend’s options or holding internal meetings.
  • Actionable Tip: Venue owners should monitor and update listings on Monday/Tuesday nights, so promotions and fresh content appear by Wednesday. Scheduling ads or email campaigns to land early in the week can capture planners right when they’re ready to “book now.”

Last-Minute Bookings Are on the Rise

Broader industry trends suggest a surge in last-minute planning. Many of our bookings show relatively short timelines from booking to event day.

This pattern echoes global findings. According to Allied Market Research, there’s been growing demand for flexible, fast-turnaround event venue booking tools and services in 2025.

  • Insight: The trend means venues should be prepared for late inquiries. Promoting any “short notice” availability or last-minute specials can capture this demand.
  • Actionable Tip: Offer cancellation flexibility or quick-turnaround checklists for planners. For venue owners: display “confirmable within X days” in your listing, and keep an eye on your calendar for last-minute openings. Emphasise amenities (Wi-Fi, projectors, catering) in listings, as those quick-to-book events often need turnkey solutions.

Conclusion

Venuerific’s H1 2025 data paint a clear picture: event bookings are surging, driven by in-person social and corporate events. Planners mostly book medium-scale events in mid-range budget venues. They favour meeting rooms, function halls and increasingly “unique” spaces (especially for weddings). Bookings accelerated sharply through the first half, and each month saw double-digit growth.

For event planners, the takeaway is that choice and competition for venues are high. Start your search early in the week, and be open to creative venue types for a better fit and value. Venue owners should lean into these trends: highlight key event features in listings (e.g. tech for corporate, aesthetic charm for social), price packages in the “sweet spot” ranges, and keep calendars up-to-date for fast responses. Armed with these insights from real booking data, organisers and venue owners can make smarter decisions.
