Private Rooms in Central: Tower Dining Rooms Above the Walkway
Central carries the highest concentration of closed-door dining rooms in Hong Kong, nearly all inside office and retail towers. Exit D1 into Landmark and the elevated walkway reach most of them without going outside.
- Common venue types in Central. Restaurant salons, hotel function rooms, serviced-office boardrooms and members' club rooms.
- What Central is famous for. The banking towers, the elevated walkway network and the Lan Kwai Fong bar district immediately above it.
- Why event planners and organisers pick Central. Guests already work here, and the walkway means nobody arrives wet in a rainstorm.
- Best events to host in Central. Client dinners, board meetings, analyst briefings and after-work drinks.
Private Rooms in Sheung Wan: Studio Duplexes and Warehouse Floors
Sheung Wan holds the studio and warehouse rooms Central has no space for, booked on a minimum spend from about HK$40,000. Exit E is the closest approach from the Island Line.
- Common venue types in Sheung Wan. Studio duplexes, warehouse event floors, gallery spaces and restaurant rooms.
- What Sheung Wan is famous for. The dried seafood and herbal medicine streets, the PMQ creative complex and the gallery row along Hollywood Road.
- Why event planners and organisers pick Sheung Wan. The rooms have height and character that a tower floor cannot match, and outside catering is usually permitted.
- Best events to host in Sheung Wan. Product launches, brand activations, photo shoots and creative workshops.
Private Rooms in Causeway Bay: Restaurant Rooms Behind the Shopping Streets
Causeway Bay is the district planners pick when the guest list is social rather than corporate. Restaurant rooms sit on the upper floors above the retail, with the MTR directly beneath.
- Common venue types in Causeway Bay. Restaurant salons, karaoke rooms, hotel dining rooms and bar back rooms.
- What Causeway Bay is famous for. Times Square, the Sogo crossing and one of the densest retail streets in the world.
- Why event planners and organisers pick Causeway Bay. It's the easiest district to reach from anywhere on the Island Line, and the rooms run later than Central's.
- Best events to host in Causeway Bay. Birthdays, friend group dinners, farewell parties and karaoke nights.
Private Rooms in Tsim Sha Tsui: Harbourfront Hotel Salons
Tsim Sha Tsui is the fairest choice for a guest list split across the harbour, about ten minutes from Admiralty. The hotel salons here carry the best audio and the strongest harbour outlook.
- Common venue types in Tsim Sha Tsui. Hotel function rooms, restaurant salons, museum event space and terrace rooms.
- What Tsim Sha Tsui is famous for. The Avenue of Stars waterfront, the Peninsula and Langham hotel strip and the M+ and cultural district to its west.
- Why event planners and organisers pick Tsim Sha Tsui. It splits the travel time evenly between Island and Kowloon guests, and the Star Ferry gives arrivals a better story.
- Best events to host in Tsim Sha Tsui. Corporate dinners, awards tables, press events and cross-harbour celebrations.
Private Rooms in Kwun Tong and West Kowloon: Industrial Floors by the Hour
Kwun Tong and the West Kowloon industrial belt hold the largest and cheapest hourly rooms, from about HK$180 a guest. Converted factory floors give you height, freight access and fewer noise limits.
- Common venue types in Kwun Tong and West Kowloon. Party rooms, converted warehouse floors, studios and multi-purpose event halls.
- What Kwun Tong and West Kowloon are famous for. The old industrial estates, the D2 Place creative complex and the newer West Kowloon cultural district.
- Why event planners and organisers pick Kwun Tong and West Kowloon. Rates run well below the Island, outside catering is normal, and a loud event is not a problem.
- Best events to host in Kwun Tong and West Kowloon. Company parties, team building days, rehearsals and large birthday events.
Which Venue Types Work When a Private Room Is Too Small?
A private room in Hong Kong usually caps at one table, which comes round faster here than elsewhere. Three routes cover the overflow.
- Restaurant buyouts. The whole floor for an evening, which removes the room cap.
- Industrial floors. A converted warehouse in Kwun Tong, where the ceiling height does the work.
- Hotel ballrooms. The right answer once you need a stage, a screen and round tables.
- VIP and members' rooms. Tower-floor rooms with a dress code, listed in our private VIP room venues in Hong Kong.
What's the Atmosphere Like Inside a Hong Kong Private Room?
The defining quality is a closed door and a dedicated service team. Hong Kong rooms tend to be smaller and taller than their regional equivalents.
- Sound. Solid partitions in hotel rooms, lighter screens in restaurants, and no real limits in industrial buildings.
- Service. A dedicated team, which is the main reason a minimum spend exists.
- Layout. Round tables are the default for Chinese restaurant rooms, long tables elsewhere.
- Views. Harbour and skyline outlooks are genuinely priced in, particularly in Tsim Sha Tsui and Central.
- Lift access. Industrial buildings often run one lift after hours, which decides how fast a group gets upstairs.
How Do Guests Get to a Private Room in Hong Kong?
The MTR reaches every private room district and beats a taxi at almost every hour. Give guests the station exit rather than the street address, since the walkways make the exit the useful instruction.
- Central, Exit D1. Island and Tsuen Wan lines, into the Landmark and the tower dining rooms.
- Sheung Wan, Exit E. Island Line, for the studio and warehouse floors.
- Causeway Bay. Island Line, directly beneath the retail core.
- Tsim Sha Tsui. Tsuen Wan Line, about ten minutes from Admiralty under the harbour.
- Kwun Tong. Kwun Tong Line, for the industrial party rooms.
- Star Ferry. The slower but better crossing between Central and Tsim Sha Tsui, running into the evening.
How Much Does a Private Room Cost in Hong Kong?

What Should You Check Before Booking a Private Room?
Six conditions decide most disputes in Hong Kong, and none of them are standard across the market. All six belong in writing before the deposit.
- Minimum spend or room rental. Which model applies, and what happens if the table underspends.
- Corkage per bottle. Frequently the largest add-on after the food, so get the figure not the policy.
- Outside catering. Normal in industrial rooms, almost never permitted in restaurants and private kitchens.
- After-hours lift access. Ask how many lifts run after 7pm in an industrial building.
- Finish time. Restaurant rooms often need the table back, so confirm the hard stop.
- Service charge. Ask if the quote already includes it, since the two models read very differently.
Where Should Guests Go After a Private Room Dinner?
Hong Kong is the easiest market in the region for a second stop. The districts stack on top of each other, so each has an obvious answer.
- Central. Lan Kwai Fong and SoHo, both uphill and both within five minutes on foot.
- Sheung Wan. The Hollywood Road bars, quieter than Lan Kwai Fong and closer to the studios.
- Causeway Bay. Karaoke rooms and late restaurants, which run past most of the Island.
- Tsim Sha Tsui. Hotel bars along the waterfront, with the harbour outlook already paid for.
- Getting home. The MTR stops around 1am, so plan the last leg on a taxi or a night bus.
