The venue you book affects everything: budget, flow, even how long people stay. If you're planning something in South Jakarta, there’s no shortage of options. But sorting through them gets easier when you know what to prioritize based on your event goals. Here's how we recommend you do it.

Start with your event goals, not the venue

Sounds obvious? Maybe. But it works. We’ve seen people fall for a rooftop bar, then scramble last minute because there wasn’t enough seating for a sit-down dinner.

• Hosting a corporate meetup? Look for professional setups with parking, sound systems, and breakout areas. These are common in SCBD and Pondok Indah. Some meeting rooms are fully equipped for hybrid events too.
• Throwing a wedding? You’ll want flexibility. We’re talking venues that allow custom setups, outdoor areas with tents, and zero vendor restrictions. TB Simatupang and Cipete have some solid garden-style halls worth checking out.
• Planning something social or casual? Go for rooftop bars or lounges with built-in entertainment. You won’t need much extra setup, and most come with F&B packages that cut down on planning time.

Pick a location that works for your guests

You might love a tucked-away villa in Cilandak, but if half your guest list is based in the north? That’s gonna be a problem. Here’s how to think about it:

• Don’t forget about overtime fees. They add up fast in South Jakarta.
• Cleaning and corkage charges are more common than you'd think, especially at bars and semi-private venues.

Check for indoor backups (yes, even for dry season)

Outdoor weddings are great until it rains. Even if the weather looks clear, Jakarta’s climate has a mind of its own.

• Venues in Kemang and Cipete often have indoor extensions or covered pavilions.
• Ask to view the rain backup before locking it in. You’d be surprised how different it looks compared to the Instagram feed.

Request real, recent photos

Venues love using styled shoots. And while they look great, they don’t always match reality.

• Ask for photos from events held in the past 6 months.
• Request a virtual tour or do a site visit at the same time your event will take place. Morning light vs evening setup changes everything.
• If you're planning a hybrid event, ask to test the Wi-Fi or confirm the AV quality in advance.

Know your non-negotiables
